The Oregonian/OregonLive would like to amend its records request from November to the following: We are requesting data pertaining to the total number of sex or gender discrimination-based, sexual harassment and sexual assault complaints received by the university each year for the past five years including the year-to-date. The scope of the request applies to complaints filed by students against faculty and staff members as well as student to student complaints (TITLE IX) and university employee to employee complaints. We would like those data sets to be separated according to job status or student status and not lumped into one figure. We are also requesting the number of substantiated complaints against faculty and staff members and the nature or description of any disciplinary action taken, including whether there was a settlement agreement. The Oregonian is not requesting the name of the employee, students or staffers involved in substantiated complaints at this time. According to the university’s sexual harassment policies, it is required to maintain records indicating the number of formal complaints, the number in which harassment was found to have occurred and the sanction imposed. The Oregonian believes all of this information is available under the state’s broad public records law. If the university chooses to withhold or redact any specific material, please cite the corresponding public records exemption that entitles the school not to disclose the information. The Oregonian asks that you please fulfill this request in a timely manner and waive all fees associated with it because release of the information is in the public’s interest. If fees are not waived, please provide a cost estimate prior to processing this request. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at the information cited below.
