Please consider this a formal public records request for copies of the following:

  1. All documentation, including written or audio form, notes, recordings, reports, drafts, summaries, conclusions, etc., of the University of Oregon’s 2017 review that was prompted by allegations of fraudulent recruiting practices within college basketball.
  2. All documentation, including written or audio form, notes, recordings, reports, drafts, summaries, conclusions, etc., of the University of Oregon’s 2018 review that was prompted by allegations that illicit conduct occurred involving the men’s basketball team.

For the sake of clarity, this records request was prompted by the University of Oregon’s following statement, issued on Oct. 4:  “Last year, in response to allegations of fraudulent recruiting practices within college basketball, the UO conducted interviews with members of the men's basketball staff and reviewed player recruiting practices. That review found no evidence that the UO had used monetary offerings to prospective student-athletes or their family members to entice them to attend the UO. After the claim was made in federal court this week, we again spoke with members of the men’s basketball coaching staff and, again, found no evidence that illicit conduct occurred.” The Oregonian is seeking all records that exist for the reviews/interviews/findings/etc. related to these inquiries. The Oregonian asks for a full fee waiver as this is a matter of public interest. The university has been accused by a defense attorney of offering an “astronomical” sum to recruit a player. If true, this would constitute a violation of NCAA rules and potentially federal law. As such, the university’s efforts to investigate are of substantial public interest.
