I am requesting all records, communications, memoranda, reports, or other documents related to the decision over whether to authorize a performance by the Grateful Dead at a U of O facility between 1985 and 1995, and any analysis of drug use, drug transactions, or other secondary effects of attendees at concerts held on campus during that time range.Further, I am requesting all documents related to the following statement issued by the AP in October 1990:"UO's vice president for administration, said Autzen Stadium will be off-limits to the San Francisco rock band [Grateful Dead] next summer due to concerns the school could be seen as condoning drug abuse among the group's many fans.The school official said he denied a request by Double Tee Promotions of Portland to bring the popular San Francisco band led by guitarist Jerry Garcia back to Eugene next summer for the fourth time in five years.'This is not a permanent ban on the Dead, but we don't want it to become an annual or regular event'."
