Under the Oregon Public Records Law, I am requesting 3 things:
- I am requesting an opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of public records that show the average grade point average of every fraternity and sorority chapter that is recognized by the University of Oregon.
- I would also like a list of the current fraternities and sororities that are being sanctioned by UO and what educational sanctions that they need to complete to avoid further punishments.
- I also want to request a list of fraternities and sororities that are currently not being recognized by the University of Oregon and the reasons why they are no longer being recognized.
I'm asking for these records because I'm concerned that the information on the UO Fraternity and Sorority Life conduct page is not up to date.
I'm also requesting these records so that I can compile them into a publically available database online at dailyemerald.com. Parents and students would benefit from the existence of such a list to see which chapters have broken school rules. The Arizona Republic has compiled a similar database that I would like to base my database off of.
If there are any fees for searching, copying and redacting these records, please inform me if the cost will exceed $100. However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of fraternity and sorority disciplinary history at the University of Oregon. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes.
If the information regarding a student must be redacted to protect anonymity, then that is acceptable.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns.
