"I am currently working on a personal project putting together the letters from a (somewhat radical) piano pedagogist, Abby Whiteside, to my grandmother, who was an early student of hers. Some of Abby's students in New York included Morton Gould and Vivian Fine. Abby lived in Portland for a while in the early 1900s, when she taught my grandmother. She died in 1956. I have a letter dated after her death from an early friend of hers and it says she had a position in the "piano department" at the University of Oregon for several years. This would have been sometime between 1904 and 1912. Do you have any records of her being at the University around this time?"
